My Background

Broken Hearted? Dealing with Loss? Feeling stuck and you don't know why?

I'm Thera Storm (the "h" is silent) and I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker dedicated to helping people identify stuck-points and move through confusion, pain, sadness and anxiety with clarity. I am certified through the Grief Recovery Institute as a Grief Recovery Specialist.

My office is a few blocks from the beach in San Diego, CA.

About My Practice and Approach

Clarity Corp is a clinical practice. The mission is to bring clarity to each client by walking them through recovery from grief/loss.

I focus on grief recovery because I have found that the root of many depleting emotions (sadness, disconnection, depression, anxiety, anger, loss of concentration/focus, etc.) is commonly discovered to be unresolved losses. Loss of trust as a child. Loss of identity. There are so many losses we experience!

My clients describe the insight that comes around this "ah ha" moment - realizing they do not need a fancy diagnosis or psychotropic medication - as "the ultimate clarity"...

Losses go far and wide.

When we talk about "losses" it includes death, divorce, break-up, retirement, graduation, deployment, miscarriages, moving, loss of pet, job transitions, loss of health, loss of wealth, loss of friendships, loss of identity... even feeling at a loss as how to help others who are experiencing intense grief.

Specific Skills and Client Focus

Before becoming a social worker my background was in marketing, branding and entrepreneurship. After my twin sister was injured in Iraq serving on a combat deployment in 2004, I realized I wanted to make a career shift so that I could dedicate my life helping others.

I earned my Masters in Social work in 2013 from George Mason University. I became licensed in 2015.

I have worked or volunteered in:

Child Protective Services

Homeless shelters

In-home therapy for at-risk youth

HIV/AIDS clinic

Hospitals

Outpatient clinics

Fleet and Family support centers for the Navy

Integrated therapist for MARSOC (special operations Marine Corps)

Traumatic Brain Injury Clinic

Funeral Homes (Grief Recovery group)

Churches (Grief Recovery group)

I enjoy short-term solution-focused counseling. I like to see clients ACHIEVE results as they move toward personal goals.
